i was really just practicing on my own for tono-bungay. working on keeping up with bob and tony, what they'd throw at me. and i started just using all these additional elements, the records and tapes and stuff,

because i was alone at these sessions, these rehearsals, and i guess i was filling up the space left without those guys. but then a curious thing began to happen, which was that as we'd meet at tono-bungay sessions

it
slowly
became evident that i was having a lot of trouble actually incorporating all this shit that i had worked up without them... like, just as i would be getting wrapped into some little record/guitar/synth idea, they'd have taken off into some other direction. i struggled with it for months before realizing that, yknow, this might actually be something that, although similar or related was actually separate and different from tono-bungay and i guess i just kept doing it. cause i like it,

it's good.
